Senator Hassan Joins Small Businesses for Maggie at The Bookery in Manchester

Manchester, NH – After being endorsed by more than 140 New Hampshire small business leaders this morning – which include Republicans, Democrats, and independents – Senator Maggie Hassan spoke to a packed room of business leaders. During her remarks, the Senator highlighted her work to support small businesses both as Governor and now as a U.S. Senator.

The “Small Businesses for Maggie” event at The Bookery, an independent bookstore in downtown Manchester, is the first in a number of stops Senator Hassan is making this week across New Hampshire highlighting her record of delivering for New Hampshire small businesses.

At the event, The Bookery owner and business leader Liz Hitchcock, and Sunrise Labs President & CEO Eric Soederberg, both delivered remarks about Senator Hassan’s commitment to small businesses in the Granite State.

“I have fought for our small businesses during my entire time in public service – working to cut their taxes and support the next generation of entrepreneurs,” said Senator Hassan. “Small businesses are critical to our state’s economy and foster innovation, and I am honored to receive the endorsement of more than 140 businesses from across New Hampshire.”

“Senator Hassan is a fighter for small businesses like The Bookery and has a long record of supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in New Hampshire — and that’s why I am proud to endorse her re-election,” said The Bookery owner Liz Hitchcock. “Senator Hassan’s work to cut taxes for small businesses like mine just goes to show her commitment to ensuring that our economy can work for everyone.”

Senator Hassan is fighting to support small businesses in New Hampshire and across the country. In the last year, she has worked to pass legislation – that is now law – to provide small businesses with the resources that they need to succeed in the 21st century innovation economy, including:

  • The Inflation Reduction Act, which includes Senator Hassan’s bipartisan measure to double the federal research and development tax credit for small business and startups, building on her work as Governor to double New Hampshire’s research and development tax credit and extend it permanently.

  • The bipartisan innovation and competition bill, which will help the United States outcompete countries like China, invest in American research and manufacturing, and expand workforce development for technology and manufacturing fields.

  • The bipartisan infrastructure law that is helping New Hampshire businesses thrive by expanding high-speed internet to every community in the state and improving our roads, bridges, and ports so that businesses can move their goods more efficiently.
