New Hampshire Police Association Endorses Senator Maggie Hassan For Re-Election

Thursday, October 20, 2022

Today, Senator Maggie Hassan won the critical endorsement of the New Hampshire Police Association.

The New Hampshire Police Association represents “every law enforcement officer in the state, from a first year officer to Chief of Police.” This endorsement reflects the trust that police officers across the state have in Senator Hassan as a champion for public safety who will support law enforcement in their efforts to keep Granite Staters safe, secure, and free.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the New Hampshire Police Association, whose members put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities and keep us safe,” said Senator Hassan. “As both Governor and Senator, I have fought to increase funding for law enforcement officers and ensure that they have the support that they need to protect and serve. As I have always said, the first job of government is to keep our communities safe, secure, and free — and that is only possible thanks to the brave men and women of law enforcement.”

“Relationships matter to the NHPA,” said Detective H. Michael Geha, NHPA President. “From her terms as a NH Senator, through her time as Governor and now as a US Senator, Maggie Hassan has kept her word on promises to law enforcement. Whether voting against changes to qualified immunity or voting repeatedly for federal funds to equip local law enforcement, Senator Hassan has supported our men and women in uniform. The NHPA Board of Directors voted to endorse Senator Maggie Hassan in her re-election bid this November.”

Senator Hassan has a long record of supporting law enforcement and working across party lines to help keep Granite Staters and Americans safe, secure, and free. As Governor, she increased funding for law enforcement in each of her budgets and strengthened penalties for fentanyl dealers, human traffickers, and domestic abusers. In the Senate, she voted for a Republican measure that supported hiring 100,000 more police officers, and worked with Republicans to secure $8 billion in additional border security funding. She also led efforts to pass bipartisan legislation to crack down on fentanyl trafficking from China and Mexico, secured more funds for New Hampshire law enforcement to help tackle the opioid crisis, and voted to hire 600 more agents at the Southern border.

Senator Hassan last month released a television ad featuring New Hampshire law enforcement officers speaking directly to camera about the Senator’s long record of working to support the men and women of law enforcement and ensure that they have the resources and tools that they need to keep Granite Staters safe and our borders secure.
