In Portsmouth, Senator Maggie Hassan Rallies With Hundreds of Granite Staters for Reproductive Freedom

Monday, May 16, 2022

Senator Maggie Hassan joined hundreds of Granite Staters today  at Prescott Park in Portsmouth to rally for a woman’s fundamental rights and against overturning Roe.

“What we saw 10 days ago now with the Alito draft opinion was a direct assault on a woman’s freedom,” Senator Maggie Hassan said at the rally. “For the first time in my memory, the Supreme Court of the United States decided to take rights away from half of our population. This is about whether women have the right to make their own health decisions, to plan their own families, to plan their future, and what the Alito opinion did was make it very clear that a radical group of Supreme Court justices want to take that away.”

Senator Hassan has been a leader in the fight for a woman’s fundamental freedoms and has been  outspoken against the Supreme Court’s draft decision overturning Roe. This week, she joined Rachel Maddow and Andrea Mitchell to discuss the stakes in the midterm elections for reproductive rights and held an event with Planned Parenthood and New Hampshire’s Congressional delegation to lay out the critical need to continue to protect reproductive freedom. Maggie for NH also launched a new digital ad making clear that all of the New Hampshire Republican primary candidates would be a yes vote for Mitch McConnell’s national push to criminalize abortion.
