In First Stop After Filing for Re-Election, Senator Hassan Visits Toadstool Bookshop in Peterborough

Friday, June 10, 2022

In her first stop after filing for re-election, Senator Maggie Hassan visited Toadstool Bookshop in Peterborough where she grabbed a coffee and books, and spoke with owners Willard and Holly Williams.

“Local businesses like Toadstool are the foundation of our state’s economy, and it’s why I made this my very first stop after filing for re-election,” said Senator Hassan. “In the Senate, I have worked to support New Hampshire small businesses and deliver for the Monadnock region — and I am running for re-election to keep getting results for Peterborough and communities across our state.”

The visit is one of several campaign stops that Senator Hassan is making across the state this week. On Saturday, ahead of filing for re-election, Senator Hassan met with North Country leaders in Berlin. Today Senator Hassan filed and held a rally with supporters in Concord before heading to Peterborough. Her next stop will be in Keene to speak with supporters and tomorrow she will be visiting Laconia with Mayor Andrew Hosmer for the start of Bike Week.

Senator Hassan has fought to address major priorities for Peterborough and the Monadnock region. Most recently, Senator Hassan worked to address online threats after Peterborough suffered a devastating cyberattack last summer, pushing the IRS to address current aspects of the cryptocurrency market that allow for criminal usage. She also secured critical investments to strengthen cybersecurity (along with provisions like high speed internet access) in the bipartisan infrastructure law.
