Maggie for NH yesterday launched “One Agenda,” a new ad that “seizes[s] on McConnell’s national abortion ban remarks” while “hammering” the New Hampshire Republican Senate candidates for their agenda to criminalize abortion. NBC News’ Garrett Haake remarked “no punches pulled there” after watching the ad, while MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow reported that Maggie for NH has “fired the first shot in this new battle” for reproductive freedom following the Supreme Court’s leaked draft decision. This ad — which was played on MSNBC and CNN — comes as Senator Hassan’s opponents continue to push for overturning Roe and criminalizing abortion, embracing an unpopular, anti-choice agenda that is out of step with voters in a pro-choice state like New Hampshire.

Watch: MSNBC’s Garrett Haake and Juanita Tolliver: Garrett Haake: “No punches pulled there. Do you think that kind of thing is something we’ll A: see more of and will B: be effective?” Juanita Tolliver: “I think it’s absolutely going to be something we will see more of because Democrats have to paint that explicit picture of what is going to come next. I appreciate that she also named McConnell in there, with him talking about a federal ban on abortion. This is not going to stop.”
Watch: MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow: “One very moderate, very bipartisan minded Democratic Senator in a very tough re-election fight just fired the first shot of this new battle” over reproductive freedom.

Maddow: “It’s a brand new political ad targeting the three Republican men who are competing to be the Republican Party’s nominee for the United States Senate in New Hampshire this year.”
Watch: MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace: “By our search, this was the first pro-abortion rights ad to be created for the midterms in a Senate battleground state since the release of, the leak of the Supreme Court majority opinion. That’s New Hampshire Democratic Senator Maggie Hassan hammering her Republican opponents who she says follow the McConnell agenda and promised to help him to criminalize abortion nationwide.”
Watch: Zerlina on Peacock: “Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan is running for reelection and is using the attack on abortion rights as a campaign tactic. @DelPercio explains why that should be the blueprint for other Dems.” [8:19 PM, 5/9/22]
Politico: Playbook: DEMOCRATS SEIZE ON MCCONNELL’S NATIONAL ABORTION BAN REMARKS: New Hampshire Sen. MAGGIE HASSAN has a new digital ad going up today linking her GOP opponents to what the narrator calls “McConnell’s decadelong crusade to criminalize abortion.” “The Republican primary candidates have spent their careers proving that they would be in lockstep with McConnell’s agenda of criminalizing abortion and punishing women,” Hassan’s campaign manager AARON JACOBS [said].
MSNBC: Monday’s Campaign Roundup: “In New Hampshire, Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan launched a new ad this morning, warning that electing any of her GOP rivals would help open the door to a national ban on abortion. It’s a safe bet there will be quite a few ads like these in the coming months.”
ABC News: “With Democrats seizing McConnell’s message, Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., already launched a digital ad linking her GOP opponents to what her campaign calls “McConnell’s decade-long crusade to criminalize abortion.”
Washington Post: “Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), considered among the more vulnerable Senate Democrats on the ballot this year, has seized on comments by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) that a national ban on abortion could be possible if Roe v. Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court and Republicans take over Congress.”
