With Senate Republicans pushing for a nationwide abortion ban this week, Senator Maggie Hassan held a press conference on Friday in Concord where she laid out Don Bolduc’s anti-choice record — and made clear that he would be a yes vote for a nationwide abortion ban.
Bolduc has left zero doubt as to how committed he would be to taking away a woman’s fundamental freedom if he were elected to the Senate. Don Bolduc said people should “rejoice” when the Supreme Court overturned Roe and said that New Hampshire’s abortion ban did not go far enough. He has said that he would never vote against anti-choice legislation and has spent years calling for the defunding of Planned Parenthood.
Senator Hassan was joined by Lisa Akey — who shared her personal story — Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington, State Senator Becky Whitley, State Senator Rebecca Perkins Kwoka, former State Senator Shannon Chandley, and former State Senator Melanie Levesque.

NHPR: Hassan presses Bolduc on abortion, as national ban is proposed by GOP senator
-
Abortion rights – and the possibility of the U.S. Senate taking up legislation proposed by Sen Lindsey Graham to ban abortion nationally at 15 weeks – is animating early debate in New Hampshire’s U.S Senate race.
-
Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan, who stresses abortion rights in every election, has repeatedly seized on the specter of a national abortion ban and declared that electing Don Bolduc, her Republican challenger, would give abortion rights opponents an ally.
-
Hassan points to Bolduc’s past statements on abortion — including his criticism that New Hampshire’s 24-week abortion ban is too lax, and calling the overturning of Roe v Wade cause for people to “rejoice.”
-
“He said he would vote for any anti-choice legislation in the U.S. Senate, and that he would never compromise,” Hassan said Friday at a Concord press conference.
-
During his primary campaign for the Republican Senate nomination, Bolduc often expressed opposition to abortion rights, saying he would “always default for a system that protects lives from beginning to end.”
WCAX: Hassan blasts Bolduc on anti-abortion stance
-
New Hampshire Senator Maggie Hassan is making the debate over abortion a central issue in her re-election campaign.
-
The Democrat held a press conference Friday morning in Concord blasting Republican Don Bolduc for what she calls his extreme views. She said he rejoiced over the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v Wade. It comes just days after Sen. Lindsey Graham unsuccessfully tried to deflect criticism away from the GOP by proposing a nationwide ban on abortions after 15 weeks.
-
“Women have to be able to make the same kind of decisions and enjoy the same basic freedoms that men do in order to be full citizens in a democracy and to participate fully in the economy,” Hassan said.
-
Bolduc’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Earlier this week he told Fox News that he does not support Graham’s proposal, saying the issue is better left up to the states.
